Shoofly Pie Company began in 2004 with a single strawberry-rhubarb pie baking in the oven of the Ballard apartment shared by Kimmy Hsieh Tomlinson and her husband, Zak. Kimmy fell in love with the art and science of baking, and the beautiful simplicity and rustic quality of a good, all natural, handmade pie. She started sharing this with friends and family, and soon the dreams of opening a small retail bakery were born.
Kimmy and Zak moved to West Seattle in 2005 and loved the community they found there. They decided that it would be the perfect place to begin their family... and their pie company.
After much hard work and personally renovating a wonderful little building in the Alaska Junction of West Seattle, we opened our doors in July of 2007 during the West Seattle Streetfair. Each year we feel fortunate to celebrate our birthday with the entire West Seattle Community!
